Rubber rollers are like every other delicate item which need proper care and maintenance. To learn how to extend the working life of your rubber rolls, read the advice below.

Temperature Regulation – 

High temperature is not good for any sensitive item, regardless of the rubber type used for making rolls. Therefore, it is advisable to keep rubber rollers away from high temperature area. Rapid heating is also advisable to avoid as the bonding adhesive usually has low heat resistance even lower than the rubber. If your application demands work under high temperature, we recommend you keep your roller temperatures under operating range by water cooling them.

While fitting the bearings, Keep a regular check on the journal ends/bearing seats, sockets for any wear or damage. Always use bearing puller to change the bearings. Rubber rollers should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Improper handling or storage may causes cracks in rubber. In case of any issue on mishandling regrinding the roller, only if the dimensional specification has not been crossed. Rubber rollers need to be place on foam or bubble wrap and need to rotate repeatedly. Rubber rollers should be covered with proper packaging in black or brown paper material.


Storage 

Proper storage of Rubber rollers is required to ensure its long-lasting life and durability. While storing a rubber roll, one must hold the shafts and keep the stand upright, so the rubber part does get exposed to other materials.

Moreover, since rubber can be damaged by the UV light, store your roller in a cool and dark place. Rubber rollers should be kept away from the ozone attack or oxidation. It releases the stress that gets built up in rubber rollers. Clean the rubber rollers thoroughly using talcum powder.


Maintenance Checks

During regular maintenance checks, roller parts need special attention. These include: ball bearings, axes and gears. Keep a regular check on the worn-out ball bearings, overloaded gears, faulty gears bearings misaligned along their axes, unbalanced rollers and deflected rollers.

Performance records should be kept on regular intervals, it helps to make you informed/prudent decisions.
